DANGER LORKS IN SHOPPING MALL.

Picture 1 – Lift and the enclosed wall.

Picture 2 – the enclosed wall. Note the door. Once the door is slam shut, the victim becomes trapped and is at the mercy of the criminal.

This is the picture of Landmark I.T Mall at Jalan Ngee Heng, Johor Bahru, Johor.

Previously, when one exits the lift (as can be seen in picture 1), they have a clear view of the car park.

However, recently Landmark I.T Mall had constructed a wall enclosing the lift area and thereby obstructing the view.

The wall now poses a danger since, the person exiting the lift towards the car park cannot see if there is anyone lurking behind.

(See picture 2). Even worst, with a enclosed wall and door, the person lurking can easily slam the door shut when he sees someone exiting the lift. Once the door is slam shut, anything from mugging to rape can occur.

I voiced the public’s concern the management and security department of Landmark I.T Mall, and they say that the wall was constructed on the instruction of Pejabat Bomba.

I hope the management of Landmark I.T Mall will seriously consider removing the wall. The Johor Bahru public can do without a Canny Ong type of incident.

A good point raised. We should all be concerned about the new, walled enclosure of the lift exits.
